Without light we are only left with our imagination.
An image can inform and educate. It can bring forth anger, hate and rage. It can also bring forth love, friendship and kindness.
Light shows no discretion; discretion is the photographers art.
A photo is a moment on time were light becomes the artist. It is up to the photographer to represent the art of light, and representation is an art in itself.
To capture an image is to capture particles of light. These particles burn themselves into a negative.
Developing is a stage where, only through complete darkness, light is born. Alight beam shines through the dense negative. The light moves past the negative, cast itself on impressionable paper.
Like seeing for the first time the paper soaks in the light, filling each pore with rays of life. Like a lasting memory that stands strong in ones mind, the image is stored never to be forgotten.
To some this paper may look blank, white, pure and innocent. Beneath the elusion is where the image hides and only the right surrounding can bring forth the truth.
The art of light is our way of saying how we feel by expressing ourselves in millions of ways through millions of colors. For each emotion there is a color and for every color there is an image waiting to exist.
